Lindsay Graham, 28, from Napa, California, wove many endurance miles into her last year as a finishing veterinary student at the University of California at Davis. Her young riding career started with Hunter-Jumper shows and she competed on the UC Davis Equestrian Team. She started riding endurance horses as a fill-in for her mother on the horse Phoenix Affair. After a few months of the long distance sport, Lindsay left the jumping world and went full speed into her new equestrian passion. She got her first Tevis buckle, placing 19th on Phoenix in 2005 and came home with another in 2006, finishing in the top ten. In 2007 and 2008 she completed 450 AERC competitive miles on her Egyptian-bred, R Redford.
Chris Martin thought her to be a good match to campaign his 15.3 chestnut Arabian gelding, Monk, and the two have proved him right. The duo showed their stuff in qualifying rides, finishing first and receiving Best Condition at the 2009 AERC National Championship with a ride time of 9:58, their next success a second and BC at the California Git R Done 100-mile ride in a ride time of 10:32. Though a relative newcomer to International competition, Graham and Monk show grit and fortitude.
