Melody Blittersdorf

Melody Blittersdorf, 50, from Jeffersonville, Vermont, loves to be outdoors. When not riding, she loves running and skiing. A competitive trail rider for 26 years, she has been competing in endurance since 2001. In 2003, she bought the three and half year old, unbroken, Synthetic (*Statistic x BHR Tamersyn), and by 2007 he was doing moderate, 50 mile rides. In 2009, Synthetic placed ninth in the Florida, Fun In the Sun(FITS)100-mile ride in a ride time of 10:50.

In 2010, the duo took first and Best Condition at FITS in the 75-mile ride with a time of 7:43. “I love his no nonsense attitude,” she said. “He’s a big, strong horse that has great recoveries.” Synthetic’s long journeys from Vermont to Florida and Vermont to Illinois and Maryland did not affect his performance, important for a horse that will have many challenges in the heat of competition. Perhaps this as well as his performance helped to get her a Wild Card invitation to join the Short listed endurance group at Shaker Village in Kentucky.

New to FEI competition, this duo has the capabilities if chosen to compete. Blittersdorf and husband Jeff own another *Statistic son as well as two other competition horses and her 28 year old retired competitive trail horse.
