To celebrate the 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and EQUUS magazine present The Sport Horse: What Makes an International Champion.
A one-of-a-kind publication, The Sport Horse brings together a stable of top veterinarians who each provide a unique perspective on the eight WEG disciplines.
The 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games, held September 25 to October 10 at Lexington’s Kentucky Horse Park, showcases the world championships of eight equestrian disciplines: dressage, eventing, show jumping, reining, endurance, vaulting, para-dressage and driving. In The Sport Horse, veterinarians who specialize in each discipline describe the physical and mental qualities that enable horses to excel.
“Our goal is to highlight the impressive–and sometimes amazing–feats of strength and agility performed by the horses at WEG,” says Cathy Laws, editorial director of Active Interest Media’s Equine Network. “After reading The Sport Horse, spectators can appreciate not only the thrill of the competition itself but also the conditioning, training and other factors that go into making these horses champions.”
The Sport Horse, written by DiscoverHorses.com content editor Dale Leatherman, is being distributed at the AAEP booth located in the Equine Village at the World Equestrian Games, and is available on www.AAEP.org and on DiscoverHorses.com as a z-mag.
