Mary McCormick
Home Town: Woodside, CA
In January of 2009, Mary McCormick was busy gathering up all the points necessary to dominate the scoreboard at CVI** Leipzig, a Masters competition, meaning that invitations are sent only to the top 10 internationally ranked male and female vaulters. This was an illuminating beginning for what was to become a fantastic year for McCormick.
Mary McCormick's scores are consistently above 8.0 and that started the west coast competition season a few months later with all but one round at the Garrod Spring Fest hitting the eights. At the Woodside May event, she was there again, winning both competitions. August’s Region II Championship Women’s Gold competition was a repeat with McCormick executing a sweep of all six individual Gold women’s rounds, again with scores that beat the 8.0 mark. She’ll be looking for the same at the upcoming Trials, hopefully on her way to WEG 2010.
